Heart of Exuma

450.00

Heart of Exuma was painted plein air while sitting on the end of a dock on the island of Exuma in the Bahamas. It was hands down one of the most magical moments of my life.

Conch Shells are very much the livelihood of the people of Exuma. They eat them, they decorate with them and even incorporate the shells into their housing structures. It became clear to me that a magnificent conch was something I just had to paint while I was there! The most fun part about this painting, however, is the fact that I didn't have a palette with me, so I put my paint directly on my canvas and painted from there, which is a technique I had never done before but truly speaks to the playful movement and free spirit of Exuma.
